Maya Devi, widely recognized as the mother of the “Light of the Asia”, Gautam Buddha, was the queen of Kapilvastu, Lumbini which is currently situated in Nepal. She was the queen of King Suddhodana who was the father of Gautam Buddha. It is said that, Maya Devi died soon after seven days of giving birth to Gautam Buddha.
