Bhairav in Hinduism, is believed to be a Shaivite diety which is related with Lord Shiva which is worshipped by the Hindus. Bhairav is regarded as a fierce manifestation of Shiva associated with the annihilation. Bhairava is also called Dandapani (as he holds a rod or Danda to punish sinners) and Swaswa meaning "whose vehicle is a dog". In Vajrayana Buddhism, he is considered a fierce emanation of boddhisatva Manjushree and also called Heruka, Vajrabhairava and Yamantaka.
