This is a real painting, not a print. This is one of the finest paintings using gold color. This Thangka is painted by 24 Carat Gold. Thangka comes in a roll without frame. This is an original hand-painted Buddhist art, Thangka of Manjushree Bodhisattva. The Thangka is painted with a natural golden color on canvas by Buddhist Lama. Manjushri is a Bodhisattva associated with transcendent wisdom in Mahayana Buddhism. Manjushree means "Gentle Glory" in Sanskrit. In Tibetan Buddhism, Manjushree manifests in a number of different Tantric forms. According to Swayambhu Purana, the Kathmandu Valley was once a lake. It is believed that Manjusri saw a lotus flower in the center of the lake and cut a gorge at Chovar to allow the lake to drain. The place where the lotus flower settled became Swayambhunath Stupa and the valley thus became habitable.
